Valerian is a powerful nervine, carminative and antispasmodic and is beneficial to those suffering from nervous tension as it has none of the after effects felt when using addictive substances. Various valerian species are still included in the pharmacopoeiae of many nations including Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The United States Pharmacopeial Convention has accepted a valerian monograph for inclusion in the National Formulary (Pharmacopeial Forum, 1998). Excellent smell |
| The smell of this flower was amazing! You really have to grow it yourself to see. Also I dug up the roots because I heard they were medicinal. The root was perfect, a huge bulb, no bug attacks, perfect. Although, I didnt actually use it for anything. The root has a smell all its own, very pungent and musky. |
