Not related to asparagus or peas, this unusual vegetable with a unique gourmet flavour goes with virtually any dish. Brick-red flowers are followed by winged pods that are picked young (1"), steamed whole and served with melted butter. Epicurean delight with an intricate flavor similar to asparagus. Ornamental vegetable at home in containers, flower gardens, as bedding plants or groundcover. Mentioned about 1734 by one of the earliest garden writers, Philip Miller.
