France's premier heirloom, Marseilles basil is a dwarf, compact variety loaded with full sized leaves.

Hundreds of medium-sized, very aromatic leaves with that classic deep rich basil flavor. Never bitter.

“Marseilles” is the traditional basil used in pistou, the Provençal version of pesto. It's considered by some to be the very best basilin France, certainly the best strain of bush basil there is.

It is a symbol of remembrance and friendship, often carried by wedding couples as a sign of love and fidelity. Easy to grow and very pest resistant.

Known as Garden sage, Common sage, and Broadleaf sage, this small fragrant perennial evergreen shrub has woody stems, grayish leaves, blue to purplish flowers and grows to about 2ft both tall and wide.

The Romans are thought to have introduced it to Europe from Egypt as a medicinal herb.

Sage is best used fresh, but can be dried. Long used to season all meats, fowl, stuffings, soups and stews, sausages, sauces and butter with its rich, distinctive flavor.

Afghani Sesame is a very early maturing, dependable cultivar that likes hot weather.

Up to 3’ tall, it produces an abundance of seed pods that burst open when ripe, with 80-100 tan seeds per pod.

An annual herb grown for its edible seeds in long pods. Tropical and heat loving, it thrives wherever cotton can be raised. Dried seeds taste nutty; their flavor is dramatically increased by toasting. Seeds are dry roasted and used whole in cooking or ground and used as a paste for flavor.

Rock Thyme is both an herb and groundcover!

Dense, cushiony mats of wide spreading, and deep evergreen foliage sport violet flowers with red and white markings that bloom June to Oct. Leaves are succulent in cooked dishes, also make a delicious tea.

Sculpit or Stridolo is a fast-growing, mild-mannered annual blending complex flavors of Chicory, Arugula, Tarragon and other favorite greens. It's milder than that would suggest, with a flavor all its own.

Found on the edge of crop fields and in forests and mountain pastures, the sprigs are harvested before blooming and used in cooking, mainly for pasta, meat, vegetables and salads, omelets and risottos in Italy where this scarce gourmet green is found. Little known outside of Italy.

In Galeata, a village in the Emilia-Romagna region, a festival at the end of April each year celebrates the sculpit. The town's streets come alive with stalls, while in Piazza Gramsci local chefs demonstrate dishes using sculpit, especially pasta and ravioli.

Romanesco Fennel is also called Roman or Florence Fennel. Traditional Italian herb with a wonderful aniseed taste. Used to add flavor to breads, curries, apple pie and fish or poultry dishes.

Very sweet and aromatic late maturing variety produces a large head with thick white tightly wrapped stalks. Fresh bulbs roasted with olive oil are classic Italian cooking. Plant late summer onwards.
