Licorice basil is also called Anise or Persian basil. Fragrant leaves have an aromatic, anise or licorice-like flavor. Long narrow green leaves are outlined in purple with flower spikes in light purple. Very flavorful, it is popular in south east Asian cooking, particularly Thai and Vietnamese. Great addition to salads, fish and poultry.
