Here you can easily see all of the newest arrivals for the 2012 season. They will be posted as they arrive, so check back often to see what is coming in the 2012 Heirloom Seeds catalog. Most will be in the catalog, but there always seems to be a few that don't quite make it in time to be in the catalog, but they will be here!
We have hand selected these varieties and new products- some from customer requests, some from our mentor's suggestions, and some from our experiences, grow-outs and equipment that we have used successfully. A few are the results of several years of traditional plant breeding.

Coconut Geranium, also called Gooseberry Geranium, has very strongly coconut-scented leaves and flowers on ornamental, low-growing, wide-spreading plants. Blooms late spring to first frost with a trailing habit that works well in hanging baskets, over rocks and walls. Suitable for fresh or dried herbal arrangements, potpourris and for growing indoors. In Victorian times, it was found in parlors, on porches and in gardens.
The scented leaves were baked into cakes and confections. Drought-tolerant, good for xeriscaping, easy to grow, needs little attention. Like many fine, old varieties, this fell out of favor as new hybrids were bred, but is being redisovered and treasured by gardeners in the know.

Hibiscus or Jamaica or Roselle is a perennial that is grown as an annual in more temperate climates. This Terroir Seeds exclusive strain matures much earlier than others, in as little as 100 days, when others have yet to set any flowers.
The paper-like blooms give way to the bright red, fleshy calyces which are made into jelly, syrup or wine. Dried, the calyces are widely used in herbal teas (the Zing in Red Zinger Tea), imparting a bright red color and a tart flavor, the original and all natural version of Kool-Aid! Roselle is attracting the attention of food and beverage manufacturers and pharmaceutical as a natural food product and as a colorant to replace some synthetic dyes. Has a laundry list of health benefits including lowering blood pressure.
