Mariska dill is a little known but hardy and compact variety with high essential oils and a pungent aroma. It is a great dill for the kitchen garden, windowsill or containers.
Originated in the Rostov region near the Caspian Sea.
This dill has a wonderful taste when fresh foliage is added salads or other dishes. It is a well behaved small plant about 18 inches tall for me. But has a preference for cooler temps, dying out in the heat of our summers. I find it will reseed and sprouts early, early spring which is an indicator of when to replant. Loving dill, I am charmed by Mariska and will continue to grow it in my raised beds.
