Description

Parisian Pickle Cucumber - Bring Paris to Your Garden

A fine French heirloom cucumber that makes excellent pickles when picked small. Very reliable, early and productive cucumber with lots of tiny crisp fruits. Also known as Improved Bourbonne.

Selected for the cooler northern climate of Paris since the late 1800s for gherkins, or small pickles. Introduced in the US around 1892 by James J. H. Gregory of Marblehead, Massachusetts.

History

Cucumbers are thought to have originated in India at the foot of the Himalayas, and cultivated in western Asia for 3,000 years. Well known by the ancient Greeks and Romans, introduced to China in the 2nd century BC. Columbus brought cucumbers to the New World in 1494.

Uses

Perfect for small gherkins or pickles. Also a good slicer when slightly larger.

Growing Tip

Cucumbers need to be continuously harvested to keep up production. If the fruits yellow on the vine the plant will stop producing altogether, To harvest twist them off the vine or snip them with clippers to make sure you do not damage the vines.
