Purple Plum Radish

This very unusual radish has bright purple to burgundy skin covering firm white flesh with a crisp, sweet and mild flavor all season long. Roots are 1 - 2” in diameter. Never pithy or hot, hardy and adaptable. Holds well after harvesting and is very crack resistant. Plum-shaped roots with dark green full-bodied leaves. Unusual color is rarely found in radishes, makes a beautiful garnish or addition to multi-colored radish bunches. Slice or grate for a colorful addition to salads or sandwiches.

The radish is indigenous to Europe and Asia. Domestication is believed to have occurred 5,000 years ago. Radishes were well known to the Greeks and Romans.

Radishes are mostly eaten fresh. Great in salads, sliced with salt or pickled.

Growing Tip
