Description

Tulip 'Darwin Hybrid Mixed' Bulbs - (Tulipa Darwin Hybrid Group)

These tulips are a variety of single-flowered, long stemmed cultivars that flower mid-season. Perfect for cut flowers with their rainbow of colors.

These tulips were developed by traditional hybridization between the Tulipa fosteriana (first described in 1906) and other Tulipa cultivars including the former Darwin group.

Tulipa Darwin Hybrid Group

Large, single flowers of varying shape, up to 24" in mid to late spring.

Growing Conditions
  • Tulips need full sun for at least half the day, with some wind protection.
  • Planting depth depends on the size of the bulbs; 6-8" for larger types and 4" for smaller bulbs. Space approximately 4-8" apart.
Flowering
  • Blooms from late winter to late spring.
  • If cutting blooms for cut flowers, choose those that are not fully open and cut them early in the morning.
Tip
  • Tulips may be left in the ground for two or three years, or the bulbs can be lifted once the foliage has died down, cleaned and stored in a cool, dry, airy place. If you do not want to lift them annually, make sure the bulbs are planted deeply.
