Green Globe Artichoke - Delightful and Tender
Green Globe produces tender and flavorful green artichokes from 3-6' plants with 3-4" heads and thick scales. Considered a cool-season crop, they grow best at a 75°F average daytime temperature with 55°F nighttime temperatures. Also known as Early Green Globe Artichoke.
History
A perennial thistle that was probably developed from the wild artichoke or cardoon. It has been cultivated in parts of Europe for centuries. Globe artichokes are native to the Mediterranean, but have been grown in this country since colonial times.
