Description

Rosemary - Beauty and Aroma for Any Garden

Rosemary is a dense, evergreen, aromatic shrub with resinous, needle-like leaves, and soft, blue, pollen-rich spring flowers loved by bees. Semi drought tolerant and used in landscaping and culinary gardens alike. Easy to grow and very pest resistant.

History

It is a symbol of remembrance and friendship, often carried by wedding couples as a sign of love and fidelity. The name rosemary is a derivative of the Larin ros (dew) and marinus (of the sea) sometimes called Sea Dew. The plant's native habitat was among the misty hills of the Mediterranean seasides.

Uses

Fresh and dried leaves are used in cooking, with the flowers and leaves used medicinally. Used in potpourris to freshen the air, and in cosmetics, disinfectants and shampoos. Has a very old reputation for improving memory, and to treat gout.

Growing Tip

The finest plants are said to be raised from seed.
