Description
Rainbow Swiss Chard - Technicolor Wonder
Distinguished by its bouquet of wrinkled, slightly savoyed rich green and bronze leaves with beautiful technicolor shades of red, orange, purple, yellow and white stems. The leaves are succulent and tender when young, growing upright and tall from a dense rosette of myriad-colored ribbed stems.
Very colorful, tender and tasty. Makes a great edible ornamental. An Australian heirloom. Tolerates light frost, great producer all season long.
History
Both leaf beets and root beets were developed possibly by the Romans from the wild sea-beet, which occurs in coastal regions of Europe and western Asia. Swiss Chard is the same species as the garden beet root and sugar beet but is grown only for its leaves.
Uses
Used by chefs and home cooks for fresh salad greens as well as boosting soup and stews. The thick but tender stalks are edible as well.
Growing Tip
Swiss Chard does not bolt in hot weather the way spinach does. It also is great in cold weather surviving many frosts.

Truly, a rainbow
This chard was a good producer all summer and remained relatively bug-free. I will grow it again.

Reliable, good producer
I had very high germination rate and very healthy plants from this chard. They've far outlived all my other greens and happily grown through sporadic watering and a few nearly 110 degree days.
