The Bull Nose Pepper is an heirloom from India- 1759, grown by Thomas Jefferson. Large, deep-ridged almost square pods are uniform ripening, very early and prolific, bell pepper that ripens green into bright scarlet that is both sweet and hot. Ribs can be quite pungent but the flesh is sweet.
Prolific producer. Great fresh or stuffed. Indentation on blossom end resembles a bull's nose. Amelia Simmons refers to these in her 1796 “American Cookery” (said to be the first American cookbook, by the way). Bull Nose is becoming quite scarce.

Chinese Giant Sweet Pepper is an extremely large and almost square bell pepper, 6 x 4-5 in. diameter. Fruits are medium thick with sweet mild flesh that turns from a rich dark-green to a bright cherry-red. Early producer with a long harvest that is ideal for home gardens. Introduced by W. Atlee Burpee in 1900 as one of the first truly giant bell peppers, twice as big as any other bell pepper!
