Description

Galeux d'Eysines Pumpkin - The Forgotten Heirloom

This peach colored French pumpkin is shaped like a wheel of cheese and covered with pebbly bumps and filled with firm, tender, very sweet bright orange flesh. Beautiful, ancient, 10-20 lb. variety sought in France and now here. Unforgettable!

History

First sold commercially in New York State in the mid-19th century, and now regaining it's popularity.

Uses

Great for soups, gratins, purees, preserves, tarts or pies! Long keeper and very decorative for table centerpieces. The warts are caused by the high sugar content of the flesh causing the skin to crack and grow the warts as a defensive mechanism.

    Funky Pumpkin

Posted by Tiffany, AZ on Jul 25, 2017

I live in Prescott, AZ and had great success with these pumpkin seeds. They grew quickly and were so fun to watch mature. I used them as decorations and gifted them to friends. Didn't get a chance to cook with them because the Javelina stole them! Will definitely reorder for next year. Really cool, wart-covered, funky pumpkins!

I have grown these now for thee years. They are so fun to watch grow, but the best part is eating the treats I make from them!
