Snowball Y Improved Cauliflower - Snow White Would Be Proud

This cauliflower is a self-blanching strain that needs no tying with dense, deep, well rounded, smooth white 6 1/2" heads appearing from silver-green leaves, 12-18” tall plants produce dense clusters of “white as snow” heads.  Best for fall and winter harvest.

Great for home gardener and market growers as it is reliable and heavy yielding, known for vigorous, rapid growth and a long harvest. This cauliflower is a good freezer and well adapted to short season gardens. 

Self-blanching in that the large leaves curl around the head, protecting it from the sun.

History

From the Eastern Mediterranean. It was imported into Italy around the end of the sixteenth century and from there to Germany and France.

Uses

Cauliflower is easily digested and is eaten raw in salads or fondue, but most often cooked. It may be added to soup, souffles, salads, purees and pickled.

Growing Tip

Cauliflower needs fertile soil, full sun and steady moisture to grow large, delicious heads that are high in vitamin C. Prefers cooler temperatures and will not develop properly in hot or dry weather.
