Sophie's Choice Tomato - (Lycopersicon lycopersicum) |
|
Determinate. Heirloom from Edmonton, Canada. Best choice for an extra early, highly productive yet very tasty tomato. Flavorful, large fruits (6-12 oz.) with an orange red exterior and deep red flesh that's full bodied and smooth flavored. Strong disease resistant small plants, 18 to 24" tall. Likes moist soil and cool climates. Does not handle heat or drought well.
55-70 Days.
Approx 45 seeds per pack
Determinate tomatoes are well suited to containers as they're compact and require little or no staking. This is one of the varieties of determinate tomatoes we offer. The others are Illini Star, Oregon Spring, Principe Borghese, Roma Paste and Nebraska Wedding, which provides a good range of colors, shapes and sizes for most tastes and containers.

Great tomato for cool summers |
| Indeed Sophies Choice grows well in the cool summer San Francisco Bay Area where I have grown it for at least 3 summers. Despite even cooler than normal summers in 2010 and 2011, Sophies Choice was one of the few consistently productive varieties, and tasty, too. Flavor reminds me of a slightly milder version of Early Girl. Grows very well in a 20 inch diameter container. |
