Sprays of showy velvety, trumpet-shaped flowers in shades of crimson/gold, yellow/white, dark maroon, scarlet/gold, violet/gold and of many intermediate colors, present an amazing tapestry of colors from midsummer to frost. Velvet Trumpet Flowers are exquisitely penciled, curiously marbled and make an excellent cut flower amd are good in pots too. Spectacular Chilean relative of the petunia, introduced in 1824.
The plants are most unpromising in appearance when young...so much so that some may forget that ugly ducklings grow into beautiful swans.
