Indian Summer Rudbeckia is also known as the Black-Eyed Susan and Orange Coneflower.
This rhizomatous perennial grows to 3' tall and has branched stems, green, slightly hairy leaves and daisy like, spectacular orange-yellow flowers with dark brown- black "eyes" or centers mid-Summer.
This classic native meadow perennial prefers loamy, moist soil in full sun or part-shade. Propagate from seed or by division in spring or autumn. They are moderately to fully frost hardy.
Rudbeckia is named after Olof Rudbeck the Elder and his son Olof Rudbeck the Younger, Swedish botanists of the 17th/18th centuries.
Perennial life span 3-5 years. Excellent as a cut flower.
